Process Steps to remove rats:
Step 1 : Prepare the Rat Traps
- Remove traps from the carton
- Remove staple from setting rod. Usually stapled to the wood.
- Place a small amount of peanut butter on the trip plate. I normally place it on the plate closest to the setting rod. No more than pea size is needed.
Step 2 : When in a attic with blown in or bat insulation
- Be sure to wear eye protection, a dust mask.
- If your attic does not have flooring. Be careful to only step on wood truss bases.
- Drywall will not support your weight and will lead to serious injury.
Step 3 : Place traps in matted down trails in insulation or along walls
- Once you have set your baited rat trap, be sure to put the baited end of the trap in the center of trail, or closest to wall
- Traps should placed in areas where the most droppings are observed
- Place traps within 3 to 10 feet of each other.
Step 4 : Check traps in about 3-4 days
- Be sure to bring your flashlight, disposable gloves, dust mask, eye protection, and a small garbage bag.
Step 5 : Remove animals from traps and place small trash bag
- Rest traps and place in same area where your previous catch was achieved
Step 6 : Check your traps every 3-4 days
- Should take about 10 days
- After 10 days if no new catches then the process is likely completed
- If there hasn’t been any noise and nothing in the traps. Then the animals in the attic are probably gone or eliminated.
